I do enjoy this from time to time, but it is not really that great of an achievment in tobacco blending. To be clear, I enjoyed the smoke a lot however the latakia odor still haunts one of my pipes. No Flavoring detected. Burns well and leaves a soft, fine ash. Smoky and tastygreat room note and a delight to smoke! Of course the smoky stuff is prominent but its not all there is: smoky, sweet, zesty, and a slightly sour note on the finish combine to make a tasty and interesting smoke. It certainly doesnt disappoint and is a wonderful smoke. Highly recommended if you like coffee with your pipes. This is one of hte few English blends I really like. A beautifully smokey taste with a sweet background and almost barn sawdust background note that burnt down to the bottom with a beautiful creamy mouthfeel. Be that as it may, I was fixated on finding the ultimate Latakia fix and when I started ordering from C&D, I worked my way through several less Latakia-heavy blends until I reached Pirate Kake. Such a joy to smoke very nice lat forward mix. But at first light was this smooth and beautifully flavorful tobacco ! I ordered a one pound pressed block of this based on two things; 2. It remained smooth and cool throughout while the spiciness of the Turkish and the sweet underpinings of the Cavendish also made their presence known. Right up my alley as I burn wood to heat the house. It is easy to rub a little off and I didn't find the need for a knife as I have with other pressed blocks. I received a free sample of this with an online order, and it quickly became my favorite. And it makes my beard smell really cool afterwords. And, I almost prefer this one, DaVinci's flavor profile is more complex compared to Pirate Kake. If there were negative stars, Pirate Kake would earn them. The good point is the concentration on Latakia, with no corrections, and this is also a weak point, since it flattens the experience.
